Introduction

Earle D. Vandekar of Knightsbridge opened more than 100 years ago in Amsterdam. In 1916, the family moved the gallery to London. After being located on Old Brompton Road for more than 40 years, Knightsbridge was added to the name. During this time, the gallery grew and became well known for carrying high-quality, 18th and 19th-century European and Chinese Export ceramics and other decorative arts. In 1982, Earle's son, Paul, opened the New York branch where he continues his family's tradition. After the death of Earle, Paul focused its energies on New York - where the current gallery is located.

In addition to Chinese, English and European antique porcelain and pottery, Paul has developed an extensive collection of 19th-century British sailors wool works "woolies", and European and American portrait miniatures. Earle D. Vandekar of Knightsbridge also carries a fine selection of antique furniture and other unusual pieces of 18th and 19th-century decorative art such as enamel boxes, garden furniture, shell pictures, papier-mâché furniture, enamels, Chinese watercolours, engravings and brass objet d'art.

Earle D. Vandekar of Knightsbridge has a very active antique show schedule across the United States, exhibiting in upwards of 10 antiques fairs each year. Be sure to check the exhibition schedule to see when Paul will be in your state to schedule an appointment at the show.
