A Derby part botanical dessert service, c.1795

A DERBY BOTANICAL DESSERT SERVICE, CIRCA 1795

     Each piece of the 25 piece service is painted in colours with a

botanical specimen and named in blue on the reverse.  The pieces

are decorated with gilt lines and borders of pink roses. The pink

roses are entwined with a gilt line and dot band.  The edges display

gilt dentil-work.  The service is comprised of the following:

     A pair of ice-pails, covers and lines (liners are not the

     original): 9" (22.9cm) high

     A pair of kidney-shaped dishes:  10 1/4" (26cm.) long

     A pair of fluted lozenge-shaped dishes:  11 5/8" (29.5 cm.)long

     Four quatrefoil dishes:  9 3/4" (24.8cm.) long

     A fluted lozenge-shaped footed dish:  12 1/4" (31 cm.) wide

     Four fluted low bowls:  8 5/8" (21.8cm.) diameter

     Two fluted deep dishes:  9 1/8"  (22.5cm) diameter

     Four fluted dessert plates:  8 7/8" (22.5cm.) diameter--12 1/4"
