A FINE CHINESE EXPORT TEAPOT AND COVER,
QIANLONG,
CIRCA 1745
The teapot is finely painted on each side in famille rose enamels with a gray bird perched on a tree in rockwork landscape spotted with pink prunis flowers, all below a wavy ribbon border of ochre and yellow. A border of four en grisaille cartouches, linked by an en grisaille and gilt rope, all above a gilt spearhead band, encircles the shoulder. A like pattern decorates the domed lid, topped by gilt finial.
