A Set of Six Rare Piero Fornasetti Fish Plates,

Passata de pesce (Passage of Fish),

Circa 1955.

The earthenware pottery plates depict three different schools of fish swimming together across the plate.  This pattern was issued over a period of time but this particular set is one of the earliest made. Although described as a passage of fish, this set is marked Pesci.

Each plate is numbered

Diameter: 9 1/4 inches x 1 1/4 inches high

Mark: Each with a Societa Ceramica/Italiana stamped mark in green with eagle above and Laveno below; Most with numerals 10 55 (for 1955) and various other numerals in green and The Fornasetti mark of hand with brush as well as the name of the pattern Pesco/Fornasetti/Milano/Made in Italy overstamped over the Societa Ceramic mark. The fish form fornasetti on #3 is printed backwards!
