A FINE CHINESE EXPORT FAMILLE ROSE PLATE,
CIRCA 1750-60.
This piece is richly decorated in 'rose-verte' enamels. In the center is a scene with two figures in a garden containing a fence, a large tree and blue flowers. The well is decorated with diaper and flower-cell patterns in rouge-de-fer with four colorful reserves of stylized flowers.
The wide rim is painted with pine and prunus on a speckled green ground with four leaf shaped reserves containing Chinese landscapes. Around this border is another, thinner band containing bamboo branches and leaves on a moss green cell ground.
