The circular silkwork has a painted watercolour background of buildings.  In the forground is a milkmaid with two young children, a boy and girl, asking for milk, the young girl holding out a large wooden mug and the young boy with bare feet.  The milkmaid wears a yolk across her shoulders to carry the large heavy milk urns which in the picture have been placed on the ground.


The back of the woolwork is inscribed with a label reading:


"Milkgirl'/ Embroidery by/V. Shakorley./Painted by her Aunt.


Diameter: Frame: 9 inches  silk 7 1/2 inches
