A large fine watercolour painting depicting a family group by an arch framing a view of gardens and a house in the distance framed within eglomise and decoupage frames.  


The family group is pointing and looking up at the calligraphy on the arch.  There are two panels in the centre of the arch.  The top panel translates roughly as built with permission & authority of the Emperor.  The lower panel lists four different Confucian virtues: filial piety, sincerity, benevolence, and propriety.
