Chinese Export American-market Blue Enamel Circular Tureens, Covers and Stands,

Circa 1795.

This is an extremely rare form of a handleless circular small tureen and cover and stand.  The dishes are painted in blue enamel in the center with a bouquet of flowers and the tureen are painted similarly to each side.

The borders each have a wide blue enamel band then a narrow band of alternating thin lines of gold and brown followed on the interior of the border with stylized flower heads in blue enamel suspended from gilt stems.


Underdish: 8 inches;

Potiches: 5 3/4 inches high x 6 inches diameter

Total together: 6 inches high x 8 inch diameter.
