The set of six Specialità Bolognese porcelain plates, numbered 1-6, designed by Piero Fornasetti are each designed with a different traditional recipe each with a gold band surrounding the rim.


The recipes include-

1. Ragu alla Bolognese ( Cortile di Pilato A S. Stefano illustrated),

2.Tortelloni da vigilia (Quadriportico Di S. M. Dei Servi illustrated.),

3. Lasagne verdi alforna (Palazzo di Re Enzo illustrated),

4. Cotette alla Bolognese (Palazzina Della Viola illustrated),

5. Drasato di vitello ( Casa Isolandi illustrated),

6. Certosino o Panspeziale (Palazzo dei Notari E Palazzo Comunale (D'Accursio). illustrated).



Dimensions: 9 1/4 inches (23.5 cm) diameter x 1 inch height.


Mark: In black, there is a large standing figure of a nude male holding a staff above SPECIALITA BOLOGNESI and the traditional Fornasetti hand and brush above FORNASETTI. MILANO/Made in Italy.  Each plate with number 1-6 within a black circle.  Below black mark are green undermarks of Bavarian porcelain maker.


Reference: Fornasetti: The Complete Universe, Barnaba Fornasetti, Page 618, #175, where the author writes about the Specialita regionali italiane series, "The project, a truly large undertaking, involved presenting culinary specialties most representative of certain regions or cities in Italy, with each plate, bordered in gold, depicting a monument, a recipe, and a container in which the dish was traditionally served.  Fornasetti's idea of combining art and popular tradition was awarded with notable commercial success".
