Miniature Sailor's Woolwork of a Paddle-powered Tugboat, Circa 1875-80.

Miniature Sailor's Woolwork of a Paddle Steam Tugboat,

Circa 1875-80.

The miniature wool depicts a tugboat, its engines straining with steam billowing from the funnel, its bow up high in the water creating a large wake.

I've never seen a tugboat depicted on a woolie.

Dimensions: 6 1/2 inches x 9 inches x 1/2 inch.

Reference:

Similar Victorian tugboat from the Leith Docks, Scotland by Alexander Ayton (glass plate).  He had studios in Edinburgh from 1875 and dies in 1894.  From the glass plate collection of Paul Mottram.
