Continental Faience Jug in the form of a Parrot,

Proskau,

Circa 1770.

The jug is in the form of a parrot with the head removable.  The parrot with a puce coloured breast with green and yellow feathers on his back and oplychrome feather to the side.  The handle of the jug is formed by a brown stem of a plant with the terminals as green leaves.


Reference: "Early European Porcelain & Faicence as collected by Kiyi and Edward Pflueger", Catalogued by Hugo Morley-Flether, Volume II, Page 182, for a very imilar example illustrated in colour.


Mark in manganese with a DP although the letters apper reversed.


Dimensions: 6 inches high.
