Chinese Export Glazed Biscuit Model of Monkey,

18th/Early 19th Century.


A remarkable rare Chinese model of a monkey with baby resting on a rockwork base.  The monkey is naturalistically modeled in a brown glaze, its child in a mustard color.


Dimension: 11 1/2 inches high x 4 1/2 inches wide x 5 1/2 inches deep


Provenance:  Private Collection;

With Elinor Gordon Collection  It was sold on her death- Chinese Export Porcelain from the Private Collection of Elinor Gordon, 23 January 2010, Sotheby's New York.
