The Theta Charity Antiques Show brings together top exhibitors, designers, collectors, and admirers of fine arts and décor in a beautiful three-day show with proceeds benefiting deserving local charities. The 2019 Theta Charity Antiques Show will be held Nov. 22 – Nov. 24 in Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center, with an evening preview party kicking off the festivities on Nov. 21. Come and discover exquisite treasures from across the country, from estate jewelry and antique silver to hand-woven rugs period furniture. While at the Show, tour the event with local art and design experts and hear from nationally-recognized designers on the latest trends in antiques and design. All weekend events are included in this year’s all-inclusive general admission ticket as we celebrate the past 67 years with a Grand Finale Show!
With a goal of philanthropy, the Houston Alumnae Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta took a cue from a prominent group of socialites in New York and launched the first Theta Charity Antiques Show in 1952 at the Shamrock Hotel in downtown Houston.
Since its founding in 1952, the Theta Charity Antiques Show has given nearly $8 million from the weekend events to cultural, community, educational, and medical causes in Houston. Funds raised from the Theta Charity Antiques Show supports the Show’s four permanent beneficiaries: Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens/The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Child Advocates, Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation, and Texas Children’s Cancer & Hematology Center. Additionally, seven deserving local charities have been selected to receive philanthropic support from the 2019 Show: Amazing Place, Bo’s Place, Camp for All, Holly Hall, Nick Finnegan Counseling Center, The Rise School, and The Rose.
The Theta Charity Antique Show is run by the Houston Alumnae Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta, with more than 50 committee chairs and 200 volunteers. The 2019 Show is chaired by Courtney Hill Fertitta, Jennifer Donovan O’Donnell, and Giggy Martin Thanheiser.
